A 'timeless' Ercol bookcase made from elm. As is often the case with Ercol every attention to detail is given to their furniture. The bookcase is a beautifully crafted bookcase with curved shelving, cornicing at the top and base of the bookcase and lovely decorative carving at the sides and top. In addition it is also very practical and versatile. The 1st, 2nd and 4th shelf are adjustable (20cm from the top there are 15 choices of height all 3cm apart and for the 4th shelf, 21 cm from the bottom, there are 3 choices of height also 3 cm apart.) The 3rd shelf is fixed. Also all the shelves are grooved at the back to allow for plates to be displayed on them. The base has a plinth with hidden adjustable feet to help with uneven floors. It also has notches at the back to make it easy to attach to the wall for stability.
This bookcase is the medium height, narrow version of the mural bookcase but at 64.5 cm wide and 154.5 cm high it is still a good size - certainly enough to hold a large collection of books and ornaments. It has been extremely well cared for and is in an excellent condition, just a little paint at the back of the bookcase where it has been attached to the wall.
The Ercol gold metal tree trademark can be seen on the right hand side of the bookcase dating it to between 1996 and 2002.
