This pair of Spoon Stools are original stools designed by A Citterio with Toan Nguyen for Kartell in 2002. The innovation of the Spoon consists mainly in attaching the seat to a central support with a specially reinforced curve to guarantee a comfortable sitting position. The gas lift pump adjusts the height from between 56 to 76cm and is perfectly inserted into the stem. This enables the stools to be used at a regular height table or at a kitchen island or bar. In the same ingenious fashion, the handle which regulates the mechanism is perfectly concealed inside the seat.
These Spoon Stools are so popular, stylish and beautifully made that they are still being made today and Toan Nguyen went on to become a designer in his own right after 10 years with Kartell.
A Citterio opened an office for architecture, interior design and graphics in 2000.
These stools are in a very good vintage condition. There is a small nick to the right of each stool seat and the plastic is slightly rough on top of the back of the stools (please see photos). There are small surface scratches on the seats on close inspection that I have been unable to capture on the photos. These do not deter from the overall quality and design of these stools.
